Ashiyuki

Ashiyuki was a prolific Osaka artist, creating primarily Ukiyo-e prints and posters having to do with the theatre. Roberts reports that Ashiyuki was a pupil of Asayama Ashikuni, and at his best was a good artist of the Osaka school and a leader in some of the advances made by that school: first to make much use of horizontal format; firfst in Osaka to employ gofun, first to exploit use of color blocks without outlines, and may have been the first to use small-figure surimono style.
