This design, The An-ei Era, 1772 � 1781 is one of ten prints in this set referring to a specific times of the Tokugawa reign. This is the most attractive and arresting design of the set with the strong graphic of the umbrella in the upper left anchoring the design featuring the beautiful young woman in her fashionable kimono. The series was published up into the Taisho period, but the earliest impressions, as this is, were printed by Takegawa Seikichi in 1896. Another impression, The British Museum, Coll.
